Molen Orthodontics Skate Night

 

For Family Home Evening I took the girls to a free Skate night put on by Molen Orthodontics.  Ken is busy with his Graduate program, so I went by myself hoping to run into a few friends.  It was such a fun night, and the girls couldn’t stop smiling, which is why I am pretty sure the braces they need will not be cheap!  The girls brought their own skates, which was a great idea since there were so many people that they ran out of skates!  It was crazy.

All the girls received balloon momentos.

It was a bit claustrophobic, but if they invite us again, we’ll be there!

Tabatha’s Science Fair Project

 

Last year Tabatha participated in her first Science Fair.  She did a great job doing a project on magnets.  This year she upped her idea to make red cabbage juice and to test the PH level of foods.  She learned that sugary foods are not more acidic than other foods, and she had fun with her cabbage ph strips too.

Here you can see from #1-10 how Tabatha thought they would line up from most acidic to least.

Here is how they ended up in order of most acidic.  You have to admit, we really do learn by doing and this was a fun project for us to do. 

Puzzle Fun

Olivia has a not so secret passion.  She loves puzzles.  Grab 5 or 6 puzzles and she will happily put them together by herself and be so proud of herself when she is done. 

I wanted to remember the joy she shows when she puts together that picture from the pieces.  I love this little girl.

Alicia’s Science Project

Alicia had the opportunity to do her first Science Fair Project this year.  Have you ever wondered what material would make the best parachute?  Well Alicia wondered, and here she testing her theory.

Her first material was a purple piece of cardstock.

Second is a plastic bag from the grocery store.

Third, we tested some thin blue material.

Fourth, we tested a thick fleece material.

Lastly, we tested a thin green flannel.

We tested them each three times to make sure we got an average time it took to come down from our tall ceiling to the floor.  Which one would you guess made the slowest decent, and was therefore the safest for our clothespin test dummies?  

Math Fun

 

When the snow comes down, you tired of being cold, and all indoor fun has been exhausted, I am always grateful when the library comes to the rescue.  When I found “Eat Your Math Homework: Recipes for Hungry Minds” I didn’t realize how much fun as a family we would have making Tangram Brownies, Pizza Pi, and Tortillas chip fractions.

Another Snow Day

 

We don’t get snow often, but these girls know how to enjoy it while they can.
