Haworth Parsonage–The Bronte Museum February 14, 2011

On Valentine’s Day, what better way to remember romance than going to the home of the Bronte Sisters, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne.  They wrote Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and Agnes Grey all in the same year under pseudonyms, but quickly became famous for their wit and understanding of the written language.  They lived in this home with their fathers from 1820-1855, and it has been largely restored to the time period when they lived there, with a few additions to make it a larger parsonage at one time, and then into the museum that it is now.

We couldn’t take pictures inside, but here are a few pics from outside.

Here is the parsonage where they lived, with the crowded cemetery right outside that was in between their house and the church.

Here is the church where most of the Bronte’s were buried.  The tombs are in the catacombs underneath, so we were unable to see them.

I didn’t get any pictures of my sister, mom, or I yet this really was one of my favorite things we saw while in England.  My next book on my list is Villette, the last book written by Charlotte Bronte, and also the name of the pastry shop where we ate lunch.
