Every year we decorate our Easter eggs using Wilton food coloring. This year I let the girls decorate by using white crayons, and they got very creative.
Olivia loved the green.
Tabatha rocked the orange eggs.
This year instead of hiding the eggs, we changed things up. The girls have discovered origami, and they made at least 50 origami bunnies. Great thing about paper, they are a lot easier to hide up high, and they are skinny to fit in tight spaces. Here are a few new hiding spaces.
Last minute, the night before Easter, we realized we couldn’t find the Easter baskets. They needed something for their gifts, so I remembered a tutorial on Pinterest on how to make Easter baskets from paper bags. Not traditional, but it saved the day. The girls didn’t complain at all once they saw the chocolate bunnies and toys.
In the end we had a great Easter, but we keep it simple. The night before we read about the last week of Jesus’ life, and we focus more on Christ’s sacrifice for us. The candy is fun, the Easter egg hunt a great tradition, but the story of Easter is the true reason for us to celebrate.
